Surf N Turf is one of River's Edge Fiber Arts most popular colorways in the gradients and several other lines. It is available in various yardages, this one is for the gorgeous 80% Merino and 20% Mulberry Silk Fingering yarn 600 yds, 5.25 ounces.
This is a lovely 2-ply, with a soft luscious hand.
When asked regarding what size needles, my recommendation is to start with a 4, knit a sample and look for "soft and squishy" if your sample is firm, or there is no drape, then you would want to go up in size, consider it your personal private measurement, because the size you use is the right one for you.
The pattern for the "triangle shawl" is included with your purchase, which starts from the center neck down, so there is literally no wasted yarn. Just remember to allow for cast off. This yarn also makes up beautifully in the free crochet pattern on Ravelry called "Virus". Gradients are suitable for so many lovely projects.
Carol Larsen (me) used it in weaving and will be introducing a new winding technique that involves gradients where you end up with slowly moving multiple "striping" across the warp. It's a pretty amazing technique developed out of the days where I love to experiment with "what-if-I" do this. Sometimes really great things happen.
PHOTOS: 3rd photo is the included free "Triangle" shawl pattern, the 4th & 5th are stunning examples of customers work that I absolutely love.
I knew I loved this base, but was surprised at how much I love the gradient from Surf--my usual kind of color--to Turf, definitely beyond my comfort zone. Thanks for taking me there! This colorway is saturated, rich, and inspiring.
